Effective 9 July 2026
Shalom is built to need as little of your information as possible. This page explains, in plain words, what is stored, why, and the choices you have. There are no advertisements in Shalom, and your information is never sold or shared for marketing.
You start anonymous
When you first open Shalom, an anonymous account is created for you — a random identifier, with no name, email, or phone number attached. You can use everything Shalom offers without ever telling us who you are.
What Shalom stores
- Your progress — which day and path you are on, your streak, and your quiz answers, so your journey syncs across your devices.
- Reminder settings — the time and timezone you chose, used only to send the daily reminder you asked for.
- A push subscription — if you turn on notifications, your browser issues a technical delivery address that lets Shalom send them. It is deleted automatically when it stops working.
- Your email address — only if you choose to save your progress with email. It is used to sign you in and, if you have a daily reminder set, to send that reminder by email as well.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase (our database and sign-in provider). The app is served by Vercel. Reminder and sign-in emails are delivered through Resend. Each processes data only to provide these services. Your reading progress is also kept in your own browser’s storage so Shalom works offline — that copy stays on your device.
No ad trackers
Shalom does not run advertising trackers and does not use tracking cookies. To understand which parts of Shalom actually help people, we use PostHog for basic product analytics — explicit events like “a day was completed,” tied to the same anonymous identifier as your progress, with no session recording. That data is used for improving Shalom and nothing else.
Your choices
- Notifications can be turned off any time in your device or browser settings.
- Your reminder time can be changed any time in Settings.
- To remove your email, delete your account and data, or ask anything about this page, write to hello@myshalom.app and it will be handled promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date above will change and significant updates will be noted in the app.
